Throughout her career in education, law, and nonprofit service, Alison has focused on guiding people through complex systems with clarity and care. As an educational consultant, she works with families applying to colleges, boarding schools, and independent schools in New York City and beyond. She brings to her work a depth of perspective as both an advisor and parent, having navigated fifteen admission cycles with her three children, spanning nursery school through graduate school.
Alison’s understanding of selective admissions is also grounded in her twenty-five years as an interviewer for Brown University. Her background as a lawyer informs her practice with a rigor and clarity that families find reassuring, while her training as a docent at the Metropolitan Museum of Art has strengthened her skills as an educator and communicator. She is currently completing UCLA’s College Counseling Certificate and is an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association.
Alison attended The Chapin School in New York, St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire, and Brown University, where she received her A.B. in History. After several years in law and finance in San Francisco, New York, and Hong Kong, she earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from NYU School of Law and was elected to the Order of the Coif. She went on to practice in private client and family trust offices before turning her attention to raising her children and, ultimately, to educational consulting.
The hallmark of Alison’s work is her ability to listen deeply, guide calmly, and help students discover schools where they will thrive. Families consistently praise her for making the admissions process manageable - and even meaningful. She is based in New York but advises students across all time zones.
